This system offers a 9-meter-long Rockwool external wall panel with key features that include concealed screw installation, a modern aesthetic appeal, rapid installation, impressive wind resistance, effective waterproofing, and enhanced sound and thermal insulation
Non-combustible material testing
1. BS 476: Part 4 (Non-combustibility test for materials)
For building height < 18meter
- BS 476: PART 6 (Method of Test for Fire Propagation for Products)
- BS 476: PART 7 (Method for Classification of the Surface Spread of Flame of Products)
For building height > 18m (measured from the level of the fire apparatus, must use non-flammable materials)
- BS 8414- 1 (Fire Performance of external cladding systems. Test method for non-loadbearing external cladding systems applied to the masonry face of a building
- BS 8414-2 (Fire performance of external cladding systems. Test method for non-loadbearing external cladding systems fixed to and supported by a structural steel frame
Overview
BS 8414 STANDARD
Purpose: The test intended to represent the action of a fire contact on the external surfaces of the cladding system
Does not cover:
1. Exposure to radiant heat from a fire in an adjacent building
2. Does not assess the fire resistance characteristics of the system
Performance Criteria | PART 1 | PART 2 |
---|---|---|
External Fire Spread | Considered Failed: If temperature rise above Ts of any of the external thermocouples at level 2 exceeds 600°C for a period of at least 30s, within 15 mins of start time, ts. | |
Internal Fire Spread | Considered Failed: If visible flaming which exceeds the confines of the test vertically/ sideways during the full 1 hr testing period for more than 60s. | |
Mechanical Performance | Considered Failed: If there is any collapse of the system/parts (At least 500mm length & 200 gm) onto the floor within the full 1 hr testing period. | |
Burning Debris & Pool Fires | Considered Failed: If burning debris/ fire pool develops on the floor of test facility during full 1 hr testing period. | |
Additional requirement | Considered Failed: Where fire reaches the internal surface, with duration in excess of 60s on the test specimen at height: 0.5m above combustion chamber opening within 15 mins of start time, ts. | |
Field of Application (thickness, density, cavity depths) | The thinnest and thickest insulation for a given system type, where other specifications remained unchanged shall be tested. If only ONE thickness tested, the BOMBA approval will be limited to that. |
